National Corruption Watch (NCW) Bali has strengthened its commitment to supporting anti-corruption efforts following a working visit to the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, where the organisation met with prosecutors to reinforce cooperation with law enforcement across the island.
The visit was led by NCW Bali Chairman Wong Kok Liang, better known as Mr. Donnox Wong, who described collaboration between law enforcement agencies, oversight organisations and the public as one of the most important steps towards building a cleaner and more accountable Bali.
“We are here to strengthen our cooperation with the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office while also building stronger partnerships with Bali Police, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and other law enforcement agencies,” Wong said. “Our goal is to support professional, objective and independent law enforcement that serves the interests of the nation.”
Wong said NCW Bali will continue serving as a public watchdog by submitting information and reports supported by evidence whenever the organisation identifies alleged corruption or other legal violations.
He said the fight against corruption cannot rest solely with investigators and prosecutors.
“It requires all of us,” Wong said. “Government institutions, community organisations and the public all have a responsibility to protect integrity and support transparency if we want to create lasting change.”
He acknowledged that there is still significant work ahead, adding that Bali has the opportunity to become a national example of clean and accountable governance.
“There is still much to do,” he said. “We hope Bali can become an example for other regions by showing that integrity, accountability and good governance go hand in hand. Public trust is built through honesty, and that trust is essential for Bali’s future.”
Beyond anti-corruption efforts, Wong also highlighted the importance of protecting Bali’s natural environment. He encouraged the public to help keep the island’s beaches and coastline clean, saying environmental responsibility and public integrity should go hand in hand.
“Bali should be clean in every sense of the word,” he said. “Not only free from rubbish, but also free from practices that harm the public interest. Through cooperation between communities, government and law enforcement, I believe Bali can continue to set a positive example for Indonesia and earn even greater respect internationally.”
Wong also said NCW Bali has received information relating to alleged corruption and suspected money laundering involving various parties. While he did not identify specific individuals or ongoing investigations, he said the organisation would continue providing information supported by evidence to the relevant authorities for further legal assessment.
“Our responsibility is not an easy one,” Wong said. “There is still a great deal of work ahead, but we remain committed to helping make Bali a place known not only for its natural beauty, but also for its integrity.”
NCW Bali reiterated that all allegations of corruption, money laundering and other criminal offences should be investigated through the proper legal process and based on lawful evidence. The organisation also reaffirmed its support for a justice system that is fair, transparent and professional, while respecting the principle that every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The visit reflects NCW Bali’s broader effort to strengthen cooperation between civil society and law enforcement in promoting accountability and public trust. As Bali continues to attract visitors, investment and international attention, Wong said safeguarding the island’s future means protecting not only its world-renowned landscapes but also the integrity of its institutions and the confidence of the people they serve.
